SIGWX

charts are valid at 0000Z, 0600Z, 1200Z, and 1800Z. From FL250 to FL630 is SIGWX High (SWH), from FL100 to FL250 is SIGWX Medium (SWM). Including significant en-route weather phenomena and associated surface weather features. The significant weather elements :

  • Tropopause high

  • Tropopause low

  • Tropopause level

  • Thunderstorms and cumulonimbus clouds
  • Jetstream(at FL350, wind speed at the jet core 200kt, Depth: FL170-FL580)
  • Turbulence(moderate to severe turbulence from below the layer of the chart to FL440)
  • Volcanic eruption

  • 20kt change in jetstream wind speed

  • Tropical storm, Typhoon, Hurricane

  • Moderate aircraft icing

  • Severre aircraft icing
